The Difference Between a Mentor and a Political Godfather

News Story 2 -1How are political godfathers, those jobbers who have held the political fortunes of our nation in their vice grip almost like forever, different from the mentors that we vigorously argue that men need?

That was one of the questions that came up during the interactive segment of the last edition of Men’s Breakfast Roundtable, a regular programme of Kingdom Men, a ministry to men.

That event which held at Sweet Sensation, Bode Thomas Street, Surulere had as theme, Real Men in Times of Change and featured Rev Ajibola Oluyede, a lawyer and pastor (represented by Mr        Akintunde) and Bro Cyprian Agbazue, President of International Foundation for Christian Unity (IFCU).

News Story 2 - 2Addressing the question, which followed about 90 minutes of deep word-based ministrations by the two worthy speakers, Remi Akano, Chief Vision Steward, KMEN who anchored the talk-show said that the distinguishing factor is selflessness. True mentors do not have any personal agenda; they seek no personal gains; they are not investing with the aim of reaping. That is not the same for political godfathers. For them, their activities are an investment that must yield bountiful profit or else…

Another edition of MBR has been scheduled for Saturday, February 20 at Munchies, along Mushin Road in Isolo, a Lagos suburb. On the panel will be Pastor Dr Daniel Ifabiyi, vice-Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Isolo LCDA branch and The Associate Minister, ECWA Church, Mushin and; Rev Dr Biodun Adedipe, a renowned economist, member of the Church Council of Christ chapel International Churches and Pastor of the church’s Isolo Centre. The theme is ‘Men for Such a Time as This’.
